A poem I wrote to highlight the difference between Jesus and false religion. In the scriptures Jesus received the most opposition from the most religious people of his day. At it’s core Jesus’ gospel and the good news of the Cross is in pure opposition to self-righteousness/self-justification. Religion is man centered, Jesus is God-centered. This poem highlights my journey to discover this truth. Religion either ends in pride or despair. Pride because you make a list and can do it and act better than everyone, or despair because you can’t do your own list of rules and feel “not good enough” for God. With Jesus though you have humble confident joy because He represents you, you don’t represent yourself and His sacrifice is perfect putting us in perfect standing with God the Father.

  1. How to Love Jesus:

    John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

    Commandments of the New Testament:

    Matthew 5:21-22
21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

    1 John 3:15
Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

    Matthew 5:27-28
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

    Romans 13:9
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

    1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Keeping the commandments is worthless without this (faith):

    John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

    John 20:31
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

    Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

    Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

  2. Why Jesus Is The Messiah (Short Version)
    Long Version (Plus Extras): https://tinyurl.com/y9el7ua4

    — The price of sinning is death.
    Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    — All men have sinned.
    Romans 3:23
    For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

    — It takes the shedding of innocent blood to make an atonement for sin and Jesus lived without sinning. His blood was shed for us so that we may be forgiven of our own sins.
    2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

    — Prophesy of the Birth of Jesus

    Matthew 1:21-23
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

    — Birth of Jesus

    Matthew 2:1
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

    — Jesus’s Mission on Earth

    1 Timothy 1:15
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

    — Jesus’s Death

1 Peter 3:18 (The word “quicken” means “to make alive”)
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

    — Jesus’s Resurrection

    1 Corinthians 15:3-4
    3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

    — Jesus’s Ascension to Heaven

    Acts 1:9-11
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
    10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

    — Jesus Promised to Return

    John 14:3
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

    Habakkuk 2:3
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

    Matthew 24:37-39
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

    Luke 17:28-30
    28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

    Mark 13:37
And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

    — How To Be Saved

As believers we have our sins completely blotted out so that they are no more remembered. Believers will escape the terrible punishment that is coming upon the earth and receive the free gift of eternal salvation by placing our faith in Jesus and confessing Him with our mouths as the Son of God and that he died for our sins and was resurrected by God the Father three days later and that He then ascended to heaven. Jesus is the one and only way to get to heaven.

    Isaiah 44:22
I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

    John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

    Acts 2:21
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

    Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

    Romans 3:10
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

    Romans 3:23
    For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

    Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

    Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

    Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    Romans 10:9-13
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

    Romans 11:36
For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

    Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

    1 Timothy 2:5
    For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

    Hebrews 8:12
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

    Revelation 22:20-21
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

    — Prayer

    Why do we pray?

Prayer is a very vital part of being saved. As Romans 10 states, if we confess with our mouths the Lord Jesus and believe in our hearts that God has raised him from the dead, then we shall be saved. This is a finality and a sure thing, without exception.

    Romans 10:9-10
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

There is no specific structure that must be prayed, but you can pray a prayer like this:

    Heavenly Father,

I know I am a sinner and cannot enter into heaven based on my own deeds. I call out to you begging that you forgive my sins. I believe your son Jesus died and shed his blood to wash away my sins and that you raised him up again three days later.

My salvation is not based on anything that I can do, but was paid in full by the blood Jesus shed for me on the cross. From this day forward I repent of my sins and turn to a life of following and living for Jesus. Amen.

Thank you Jesus for everything you have done for me.

  3. "Religion" is a very loaded word in our culture that can be used to unite people for or against something. But we have to be careful when we use it to divide believers from "true believers". Religion played a very important role in Jesus' ministry and although Jesus spoke boldly against the rigidity of the religious customs and abuses, he did not speak out against the Jewish religion itself. He just knew the perfect version of it when he said in Mark 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." This is why Jesus said in Mark 14:58 that would "destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another, not made with hands." Jesus made the grace of God available to all. But it was never his intention to abolish institutionalized religion. Even this guy Jefferson Blake ironically wants to start a church based on his own religious views. So religion is good. After all, if Jesus hates religion, why did he celebrate the Jewish holidays like Passover? Why did He regularly go to the synagogue? Why did his disciples practice the religious traditions of the day? If Jesus hates rules, why did he preach the 10 commandments? If Jesus did not set out to build a Church, why did he tell Peter that He would build his church upon this rock? If Jesus really came to separate the world from religion, He would not have practiced the religious traditions himself. The evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of religion.

  4. put me to tears! This is the truth! Jesus is Lord and he already saved us, he is the cure! Religion caused division, pain and condemnation. Turn to the love which jesus has for you. Amen

  5. This video is slick and sounds great except it doesn't pass the Bible test. Exactly where did Jesus mention that he came to abolish religion? Nowhere. He actually said he did not come to abolish the Law and the Prophets but to fulfill [Matthew 5]. Furthermore, James 1:27 gives us a template for pure and undefiled religion. Webster's Dictionary defined religion thusly: the service and worship of God or the supernatural; commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance. Religion can be good or bad. People can do really bad things in the name of a good religion, a bad religion, or no religion at all.

  6. Awkward religious beliefs: praying; A Christian prays to God. He asks God to do something specifically for him. Isn't it selfish? If we really understand the greatness of being, the creature of that should be much much bigger than the being. Isn't it stupid to think that God stops all his duties and forgets all it's creatures and just think to solve this petty Christian's problem?

  7. Religion believes that God's love and Grace is a reward that they use to manipulate and control people. Truthfully God's love and Grace is a medication for broken and the sick. Jesus didn't die to award people for good behavior. He did to help the sick and the broken.

  8. See what you saying but you must love Jesus and love God's religion. This is false teaching if you are throwing God's religion out the window. JESUS SAID If you love me you keep my commands

  9. Next
Why I hate sports but love soccer
Why I hate meat but love pork
Why I hate Republicans but love Trump
Why I hate soda but love Coke. He didn't explain anything he just made declarative statements . He is implying Christianity us superior to other religions

  10. You got the definition of religion all wrong. Nowhere in Scripture Jesus Christ hated religion. In fact he followed the precepts of the Old Testament and started a new religion (Christianity) in perfection and fulfillment of the old.

  11. I really and truly do love this video, except that there is a difference between "religion" and "legalism."
    re·li·gion
    rəˈlijən/Submit
    noun
the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
    whereas
    le·gal·ism
    ˈlēɡəˌlizəm/Submit
    noun
excessive adherence to law or formula.
    THEOLOGY
dependence on moral law rather than on personal religious faith.

  12. The word "religion" is a Latin word meaning relationship, relationship with God. If you don't have religion, what you are really saying is that you don't have a relationship with God.

Jesus only founded one Church, the Catholic Church. All others are man-made and therefore false.

  13. My husband and I just discovered these videos! We're sharing them with everyone! It's amazing to finally have our thoughts and ideals put into words, confidently. Keep it up! We have been married for seven years, and have a new fire within us to make music and share with others. Loving the encouragement along the way👍

  14. Christianity is not a religion; to be a Christian is to be a follower of Jesus Christ. You are not saved through works or man-made laws but by having a personal relationship with Jesus. Jesus is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. No man comes to The Father but by Him.

  15. Jesus and true religion goes together. I think false religion is what you were describing also Jesus wasn't murdered he laid down his life

  16. Hebrew 11,6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

  17. One of the most saddest and ironic things I see on these comments is that we Christian's are so stubborn sometimes. We try to defend are God by telling these people that they are blind, or saying they need Jesus, or even just using a swear word. Tell me how this will encourage someone to believe in Jesus Christ? Wasn't Jesus the definition of love and Christ is living in us so we have to do the exact same to others. By accepting what they believe and showing the truth out of LOVE not anger!!!
