Pile Driver at the Dominion Heights Construction Site

Pile Driver at the Dominion Heights Construction Site

On this site was most recently a Urban Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) television studio that operated since 1993 in a structure that was earlier a branch of the Shirlington Trust Company. Present construction by the site’s new owner, the Christopher Companies, will convert the site to an apartment complex to be called "Dominion Heights." The site plan is available here.

About the Shirlington Trust Company
Shirlington Trust Company was a relatively small financial institution headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. In 1965, Shirlington Trust Company was acquired by United Virginia Bank, which in 1979 was acquired by Crestar Bank, which in 2000 was acquired by SunTrust Bank. SunTrust Bank is a large financial institution based out of Atlanta, Georgia, founded in 1891. The rocks in the foreground are all that remain of this branch of the Shirlington Trust Company.
