What is Rock Crushing.

A crusher is a machine designed to reduce large rocks into smaller rocks, gravel, or rock dust.
Crushers may be used to reduce the size, or change the form, of waste materials so they can be more easily disposed of or recycled, or to reduce the size of a solid mix of raw materials (as in rock ore), so that pieces of different composition can be differentiated.
Crushing is the process of transferring a force amplified by mechanical advantage through a material made of molecules that bond together more strongly, and resist deformation more, than those in the material being crushed do.

Crushing devices hold material between two parallel or tangent solid surfaces, and apply sufficient force to bring the surfaces together to generate enough energy within the material being crushed so that its molecules separate from (fracturing), or change alignment in relation to (deformation), each other. The earliest crushers were hand-held stones, where the weight of the stone provided a boost to muscle power, used against a stone anvil. Querns and mortars are types of these crushing devices.

Snap sinks to IPO price for first time since market debut | Reuters – News

Heavy Construction News

By Noel Randewich
| SAN FRANCISCO

SAN FRANCISCO Shares of Snap Inc dropped 4.9 percent on Thursday to their initial public offering price, highlighting investors’ loss of confidence in the social media company that faces fierce competition from Facebook.

The owner of Snapchat – a mobile app that lets users capture video and pictures that self-destruct after a few seconds – ended at $17.00, the price set in its March initial public offering that was the hottest U.S. technology listing in years.

Snap climbed to $29.44 in the days immediately after its market debut but has since declined. Thursday’s price was the lowest since the IPO and it did not sink below $17.00.

Snapchat is popular among people under 30 who enjoy applying bunny faces and vomiting rainbows onto their pictures. But many on Wall Street are critical of its high valuation and slowing user growth. Snap has warned it may never become profitable.

Those worries increased after Snap’s first quarterly report in May showed declining revenue expansion, disappointing investors who had hoped the company would surprise them with big numbers.

Dipping below an IPO price is seen on Wall Street as a setback to be avoided by chief executives and their underwriters, but it is not uncommon for Silicon Valley companies whose market listings have been hyped to investors.

Alibaba slipped under its IPO price 233 days after its stock market debut while Facebook dipped below its IPO price in its second day of trading. Facebook is now up nearly 300 percent from its IPO.

Snap’s IPO was popular among twenty-something investors, according to Robinhood, a mobile trading app.

It recently traded at nearly 21 times expected revenue, according to Thomson Reuters data. By comparison, Facebook has a revenue multiple of 11.6.

Since May, the interest rate that short sellers pay to borrow shares of Snap has jumped to 42 percent a year, according to Astec Analytics. Some insiders in Snap’s IPO will be free to sell their shares at the end of July, increasing the supply available to short sellers.

The Advisor Shares Ranger Equity Bear ETF made money selling Snap after its IPO and buying the shares back after its disappointing quarterly report.

Portfolio manager Brad Lamensdorf said he would consider shorting Snap again once more shares hit the market.

“Its price-to-sales ratio is just so freaking high,” Lamensdorf said.

8 Tips for Dealing with a lack of Self Confidence

Self-Help Tips for Dealing with a Lack of Confidence

Many people suffer from a lack of confidence. This is nothing to be ashamed of, though. Unfortunately, it’s been a part of our society for a while now, making it a common problem. Here is a list of ways that people have been able to deal with their lack of confidence.

1. Live in the moment. When you live in the moment you can focus on the now rather than focus on the past where you experienced your hurt and encountered your fears. You can then be unconcerned and hopeful about your future without the pressure of your past looming up behind you and making your confidence plummet once again. This mindfulness tool takes time to master as it can be hard to ignore the past making its way back into your mind………please read on

Hino and Al-Futtaim Motors have launched the latest medium-duty Hino 500 Series truck in the UAE, featuring an engine upgrade, more safety features and a redesigned cabin for greater driver comfort.

The latest generation of the Hino 500 Series trucks is equipped with a 7.7-litre Euro III-compliant engine with a high pressure common rail fuel injection system and turbocharger technology for maintaining power in any driving conditions while achieving lower fuel consumption and emissions.

The series is suitable for use in applications from tipper and reefer trucks to general cargo vehicles, and includes a range of safety features, including an anti-lock braking system, front underrun protection system (FUPS) and rear underrun protection system (RUPS).

Ramez Hamdan, GM of Hino at Al-Futtaim Motors, said: “This year is proving very positive for Hino, as we continue to grow our market share and introduce new products that meet our customers’ needs.”

The launch is Hino’s second in a few months, following the introduction of the hybrid 300 Series.

Hamdan noted: “Just last month, we launched the UAE’s first hybrid truck in the form of the Hino 300 Series hybrid, and the introduction of the Hino 500 Series allows us to offer a different solution to sectors looking for a reliable truck that offers a host of advanced safety and driver comfort features.

“With companies increasingly aware of the need to reduce emissions and reliance on fossil fuels, the Hino 500 Series also maximises efficiency and significantly reduces consumption thanks to class-leading engine and transmission choices.”

The cabin provides a more comfortable ride, thanks to a semi-floating construction for the cab mount and mounting bushes, resulting in reduced road vibrations and reduced cabin noise.

The optimised cab provides better visibility, better arrangement of the instrument cluster and efficient air flow to keep cool in traffic, as well as a bed space for resting located behind the seat.

Hamdan added: “Providing a more comfortable driving experience is proven to reduce fatigue and in turn increase safety on the roads.”

Heavy Construction News – A ‘perfect’ attosecond experiment — ScienceDaily

Heavy Construction Photos

Novel experiments using ultrafast pulses are currently revolutionizing laser physics research. They deliver unprecedented insights into matter — into the structure and dynamics of electrons in atoms, molecules and in condensed phases. Using what is known as an attosecond experiment, physicists at Waseda University in Japan, the National Research Council in Canada and the Max Born Institute for Nonlinear Optics and Short Pulse Spectroscopy (MBI) in Berlin have managed to completely measure and describe the quantum-mechanical wave function of an ionized electron. The results have now been published in Science.

An attosecond is one quintillionth of a second, roughly equivalent to the relationship between one second and the age of the universe. Attosecond light pulses can profoundly change the states of matter. By using attosecond light pulses, electrons can be excited to a higher energy level (a higher orbital), which is characterized by a series of quantum numbers that describe the energy of the excited electron, the rotation of the electron around the core of the atom and its spin. If the energy that is transferred from the attosecond pulse to the atom is high enough, the electron can even ionize — which means that it leaves the atom and flies off, for example towards a detector.

In the new attosecond experiment, the scientists managed to completely measure all quantum numbers of the released electron — or indeed, the wave function of a released electron — which is why the experiment may be called a “perfect” attosecond experiment.

“Attosecond research is still in its infancy,” says Professor Dr Marc Vrakking, MBI Director and co-author of the publication. “It’s only because of very recent developments in laser technology that experiments of this kind have become possible. Attosecond experiments allow us to comprehensively measure the changes that the absorption of light bring about in matter. Our results make an important contribution to fundamental research in quantum physics.”

Electrons are elementary particles that make electricity possible. Ionization, for example, is the basis for the operation of solar cells. Sun light releases electrons in silicon, generates a current flow. The current experiment used laser pulses to release electrons from atoms, and to measure and describe how this changed the state of the atom and the electron. Lasers are also essential tools for storing and transmitting information in measurement technology, in medical diagnostics and in modern production technology, from shipbuilding and aircraft construction to computer chips.
